Honey Singh reveals only Akshay Kumar gave him the liberty to make music however he wants; says, “I made ‘Lungi Dance’ and Shah Rukh Khan did not like it” : Bollywood News

Rapper-singer Honey Singh is currently promoting his new single ‘Naagan’. In a recent interview, he talks about not enjoying making songs for Bollywood anymore. He also reveals how Shah Rukh Khan did not like ‘Lungi Dance’ for Chennai Express initially.

Honey Singh told ETimes, “I have always had trouble making music for Bollywood. When Shah Rukh bhai called me to make a song for Chennai Express, he told me to make something like 'Angreji Beat’. I asked him why, so he said because that song was a huge hit. I told him that I won’t make a song like that but will create a number which has his vibe. I made ‘Lungi Dance’ and he did not like it. He took three weeks to decide whether he wants the song or not.”

The song became a hit after Shah Rukh used it in Chennai Express. It was featured in the comedy-drama's closing credits and starred SRK and Deepika Padukone. He had discussed the song with PTI around the time the movie came out. SRK said, “I found it very apt for Rajini sir and wanted to be a part of it as a fan of one of the greatest actors we have. Deepika, on my request, happily agreed to be a part of the song because even she is a huge fan of Rajini sir. The song is fun, happy and completely Rajinikanth Style.”

Further Honey Singh lauded Akshay Kumar for giving him the liberty to make music. Honey said, “Only Akshay Kumar gives the liberty to make music however I want. He says, ‘You make whatever you like. You be in your fun element, vibe as you want. I will pick what I like.’ Other all people put a lot of limitations which is why this year or even next year, am not focusing on Bollywood. The only reason I will do for Bollywood is because my relations with certain people are good.”
