Just yesterday we saw the release of the much talked about and keenly anticipated Salman Khan starrer Tubelight. Apart from the film hitting screens, Salman Khan also graced an even where he announced the association of his Being Human Foundation with PVR Cinemas. However, it wasn’t the event itself that caught our attention; instead it was what Salman Khan said about his film Tubelight that did.
In fact, when asked about the rather negative response Tubelight has garnered from the critics, Salman Khan who seems to be at his witty best added, “The Critics were really good… I was expecting minus three and minus four but they have given one and half apparently. So I am very pleased with that.”
Further talking about the reports that he has been receiving about Tubelight and why the audience too have felt that the film isn’t like a conventional Salman starrer that hits screens on Eid, the actor added, “Reports are, ‘Bhai ko rote hue nahi dekh sakte’, so I asked, are they watching me cry and are laughing, they answered no, they are crying as well. So what happens in a film like this is, since it is an Eid release like the previous ones, people come with the thought that they will dance and cry and enjoy. But when they watch the film, it feels like they had come to watch something else and are now watching an altogether different film.”
Not stopping there, Salman Khan went on to further detail the perfect way to watch Tubelight. Commenting on this the actor added, “Basically, this film cannot to be seen with launde lapades, or with buddies since it isn’t a film where you can have a blast. Instead it is a very emotional film, wherein even the most stone hearted individual will have tears in his eyes watching this film. So yes this is that kind of film where you need to take your families, take your parents.”
Concluding the press interaction, Salman Khan chose to answer the question about whether he was bothered about Tubelight failing at the box office. “I am not bothered about failure. I am sure the film will do well and get us a lot of respect”, signed off Salman.
