Here’s what Salman Khan did this for the campaign against open defecation in Mumbai

We all are aware that Salman Khan was roped in as the face of the latest Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan initiative, the campaign against open defecation in Mumbai. The actor, who has been an active participant in the initiative, recently visited the Madras Pada slum in the suburbs.

Located next to the popular film studio Film City in Goregaon East, Salman Khan visited these slums in order to spread awareness against open defecation and its hazards. The slums occupy over 3000 people and the campaign has given away over 20 public utility toilets to combat open defecation. Besides this, it has also helped them construct a 1500 litre storage tank and a bore well with a new compressor.

Besides Salman Khan, the BMC Chief Ajoy Mehta, I love Mumbai foundation’s Rahul Kanal, Sahib Reality’s Shekhar Tolani as well as Sach Ishaan’s Roshan Sachdeo too participated in this drive. Speaking about the initiative, Salman Khan stated that he was glad to be able to do something good for the people. He also asserted that he will be trying to seek permission to build toilets around these houses if there is space.

This is not the first time where the actor has come forth to deal with open defecation. Prior to this, he had even donated mobile toilets to the BMC to improve the sanitation and hygiene conditions around the city.

On the film front, Salman Khan is now gearing up for the release of Tubelight which marks the debut of Chinese actress Zhu Zhu. Directed by Kabir Khan, it is slated to release worldwide during Eid this year.
