If you thought that Naughty @ 40 was the last that you saw when it came to stuck films starring Govinda then think again. His long pending film Showman (which was earlier titled Con Flick) is in queue as well. Though 80% of the film has been already wrapped up, there is no certainty around when would the remaining portions get shot.
Informs a trade source, “Showman was launched in 2008 around the time when Partner had become a huge hit. His Bhagam Bhag too was a hit and Govinda was enjoying his third innings in Bollywood. However, he went on to sign too many films around this time and there were certain issues that cropped up during their production. Showman was one of them.”
Showman was announced as a fun film with Govinda playing a conman here. The film was directed by Tigmanshu Dhulia for whom this was his first comedy after serious films like Haasil, Charas and Shagird (which was completed by then).
“Another added attraction in the film was Rimi Sen who was said to be playing an obese woman weighing as much as 160 kilos. As Govinda’s love interest, there was promise of some amazing chemistry between a young obese girl and a not-so-young man”, continues the source.
However, the film had various hurdles in its way due to which it couldn’t reach the finishing line as per the original plan. It was also reported that Govinda had left the London schedule of the film as he wasn’t too pleased with some of the portions being canned, especially the one that featured the Queen’s look-alike in a song.
“Things were a little dicey for a while but then the shooting resumed again in 2009. Govinda did shoot for some more days but then the film got stuck again”, the source adds.
As things stand today, the film is yet to make further progress. When contacted, director Dhulia wasn’t willing to talk much about the film though he did admit that 10-15 days of work was still left for the film. Even as he has moved on to newer projects, he hasn’t lost hopes though. “I hope the film is revived”, says Dhulia.
Well, you are not the only one here. There are makers of other stuck films featuring Govinda (Banda Yeh Bindaas Hai,Run Bhola Run, Chai Garam, Loot, Don’t Worry) which are in line as well
