Govinda expresses grief over the demise of his Deewana Mastana co-star Satish Kaushik : Bollywood News

Working with the late Satish Kaushik brings back the best memories for Govinda. In movies like Sajan Chale Sasural, Rajaji, Hadh Kar Di Aapne, and Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, to mention a few, the pair served forth-entertaining material.

Govinda discussed in an interview with PTI how the sequence with his character Bunnu and Satish Kaushik's Pappu Pager, whom he hires to assassinate his romantic rival Raja (Anil Kapoor), has a separate fan base. Govinda recalled how that scene came to be. He said, “For Deewana Mastana, when I went to the set, he had already written (some lines). The scene was a huge hit and is still remembered by fans because we worked on the language of Nagpada (a popular area in South Mumbai), where in every word there is ‘na’. We both jointly worked on that scene. He had written his dialogues and I had also written something.”

Govinda, who is currently in Jaipur, continued by saying he was unable to cope with the tragic passing of Satish Kaushik. He said, “There are a lot of artists, who work in filmy 'maahul (environment)'. But he was an actor, who would make any character memorable with his sheer hard work. He would dive into that world completely and become like that character. There are so many actors who play such good roles but how many characters become part of history? The characters played by Satish Kaushik are historic, they are remembered even now and will always be.”

Expressing his grief Govinda told ETimes, “It feels very, very sad. May God bless his soul and may he rest in peace. Bahut dukh hua to know that my Sajan Chale Sasural’s Mutthu and Pappu Pager of Deewana Mastana, Sharafat Ali from Bade Miyan Chote Miyan is no more.”

Actor, writer, director Satish Kaushik passed away at the age of 66 in Gurugram on March 9, after he suffered a heart attack.
