Seen in a unique role of a sports coach, Abhishek Bachchan plays a different leading man in the upcoming sports drama Ghoomer, co-starring Saiyami Kher. The R Balki directorial seems to have left many sports lovers and industry insiders impressed. After Abhishek’s father and legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan shared his heartfelt review on the film, it is cricketer Virender Sehwag who not only reviewed the film but also couldn’t stop appreciating it.
Virender Sehwag decided to take to social media to share a video where he is seen sharing his honest review about Ghoomer along with an emotional message that he dedicated to the film’s leads Abhishek Bachchan and Saiyami Kher. Speaking about the film, Sehwag said, “Kal maine Ghoomer picture dekhi. Bahut achhi lagi. Bahut dino ke baad cricket ki picture dekhne mein bahut anand aaya. Kyunki isme cricket to hai magar emotion bhi hain aur sportsperson ki struggle kya hoti hai iska idea bhi aajayega aapko, khaskar injury se wapis aana kitna alag level ka struggle hai ye pata chal jayega (Yesterday I watched the film Ghoomer. And it is very good. After a long time, it was truly a happy experience for me to watch a cricket film. Because along with cricket, there are a lot of emotions which were explored in the film. Along with that, it gives an idea of the struggles faced by a sportsperson, especially how challenging it can be for a sportsperson to recover from an injury and return to normalcy).”
Furthermore, he was also all praises for the actors to portray the roles with so much sincerity. “Main waise spinner ko respect nahi deta hu magar Saiyami Kher ne jo ghoomer dali hai wo lajawab hai. Ye role bahut hi mushkil tha magar unhone emotional kar dia. Waise main coach ki bhi sunta nahi tha magar Abhishek Bachchan ne aisi acting ki hai ki aapko unki baat zarur sunni padegi. 18 August ko Ghoomer zarur dekho family ke saath aur inspire ho jao. Jaise Bachchan sahab ne kaha, main bhi kah raha hu, ‘I love this game’. Dher saare aansu leke jana kyunki aapko rulayegi bhi (I have never given respect to spinners, but I was amazed at how well Saiyami Kher spinned the ball. It was a very challenging role, but she surely made me emotional. Usually, I would never listen to my coach, but the way Abhishek Bachchan has portrayed his character of a coach, you wouldn’t have a choice but to listen to him. Ghoomer is definitely a must watch with your family and to get inspired. Like the way Amitabh Bachchan had said, ‘I love this game’. Take a lot of tears with you because it will definitely make you cry).”

Followed by the words of appreciation, Amitabh Bachchan too took to the platform to drop a comment on the review as he added, “Sehwag ji... itne saadharan shabdon mein bahut badi baat keh di aapne. Mera aabhar aur sneh (Those are some big words of praises which you said with so much simplicity. My gratitude and love to you)”. On the other hand, Abhishek Bachchan dropped a simple folding hands emoji, expressing his gratitude towards the beautiful comment.
Ghoomer also features Angad Bedi and revolves around the struggle of a paraplegic person who decides to continue her love for cricket, beating all odds. The film released today in theatres.
