She said, “I have known Pankaj ji from the day I got married, which is now 26 years. He was part of the Baaraat, and he was like Akash's elder brother, father, bestfriend, mentor and he was there from the beginning of my marriage. I feel devastated, I feel at a loss and I can't imagine what Farida, Reva, Nayaab and Ojas are going through.” “He is irreplaceable, he was the ultimate father, husband and friend. There can be no one like him. If there is a word called gentleman, it was made keeping him in mind. I have known him now for 26 years myself, Akashdeep has known him for 40 years, but not once have I heard him raise his voice at anyone or get angry. He had such a wonderful, calm and soothing presence voice. I will always remember that whenever he had met me, he would immediately say ‘Hi Sheebs, how are you? ‘Because both his daughters call me Sheebs, that's what he always called me and that voice echoes in my ears even now’,” she added.

Praising his singing, she called him a “khazana”, and continued, “He is the pioneer of the popular rising Ghazals and he is the uncrowned King and well deserved Padmashree. So his style of singing, I always felt when I heard a song of his that he is always singing with a smile in his voice. That feeling, that feel good factor would come whenever you would hear him sing, whether it's live, or it was a record, whether it was you listening to a reel with his voice. You always feel like he is smiling and trying to make his audience happy.”

Like the many listeners, even for Sheeba it is difficult to pick one of her favourite songs sung by him. However she shared a fond memory related to his iconic song 'Chitthi Aayi Hai'  “I remember from my childhood because everytime, since we are NRI, whenever my parents would hear that song they would start crying, it would bring so much feeling in their life,” she stated.
