Fatima Sana Shaikh opens up about her struggles of hailing from a lower middle-class family; says, “I used to live in a 1RK” 1 : Bollywood News

Fatima Sana Shaikh, who started her career as a childhood actor, opened up about her life and the financial struggles and challenges she has faced in life. In an interaction, the Dangal actress revealed that unlike the popular notion of actors having wealthy families, she maintained that she comes from a very lower middle-class family and used to live in a one room kitchen.

In an interview with Humans of Cinema, Fatima Sana Shaikh revealed about her childhood days wherein she said, “I come from very low middle class family. I come from a place where we used to live in a 1RK on the ground floor which was a parking basement turned into a house.” Furthermore, she also went on to break the notion about how actors earn a lot to afford all the luxuries. The actress also confessed that even today, after working with Aamir Khan and production houses like YRF, she continues to live in a rented apartment.

“It’s been a process. I am proud of myself. It is not like I have purchased a house. I live in a rented house. At least, I have crossed the milestones which I wanted to while I was struggling and I am still struggling. This process never stops, and the struggle never ends,” Fatima added.

She also went on to talk about actors who are in the industry to earn money and that they don’t have the luxury to choose projects for their love for acting but would choose them to pay their bills. “You are constantly looking for good work and you are constantly fighting your own instinct – ‘Should I work for money or wait.’ So, you also change according to your needs and wants. If I want to pay my bills and loans, I have to do the things I don’t want to do. One has to work for survival. When you have luxury, enough financial safety, only then you can choose to do things that make you happy as an actor. But sometimes you don’t have that choice,” she concluded.
