Actress Kanupriya Pandit who is all set to essay the pivotal role of Disha Parmar's mother Meera in Ekta Kapoor's Bade Acche Lagte Hain Season 2 got in an exclusive chat with Bollywood Hungama and opened up about doing the show. She also shared her experience of what made her sign the show and bonding with Disha and Nakul.
Talking about what made her sign the show Kanupriya said, "Current age is the era of Brand and Bade Acche Lagte Hain is a brand. Although personally, I'm not really a brand conscious person as I'm from a theatre background. But having said that the show was also a quality show despite being a brand that ran for almost 5 years. It is also made by Ekta Kapoor with whom I had worked previously as well. So when the offer came to me and the character was narrated to me which was of Priya's mother who is also a single mother of 4 daughters. This was the gist I got for my character who somehow raised her daughter on her own. My character is very much independent and contemporary. And also I have done similar cult shows. This is what made me sign the show."
We asked her if she felt a risk while signing a show which has already established its base among the audience. She said she felt a risk and also talked about how her character is in the show. Pandit also revealed she is excited and hopes viewers bestow love on her.
"Definitely, I felt a risk. When it was offered to me, I felt like, 'Oh My God' It's a brand and it's not easy to live up to the expectations of the audience. Because for the audience, it is very easy to reject you, They reject you through 2 ways, one which I have observed is that they feel bored when they are served the same content and the other being they don't accept anything new in the iconic and established characters. So, I would request the audience to watch us with an open heart and an open mind. We're trying to be very realistic and approachable this season. There is special working on everything from production to script to costumes to even lighting everything will be felt very real to the audience," the actress stated.
On talking about her bond with Disha Parmar and her other on-screen daughter, the actress confessed, "I and Disha have gell up well. We even look alike and that's the reason we seem like a mother-daughter duo. In real life, I'm already a mother of two daughters who are way taller than me and the same is with Disha. Even the rest of my 3 daughters are also taller than me, so it feels very relatable. Even I have seen all of them previously and they are very nice, With Disha, I had a small scene in the beginning and we also had a group scene. We have kind of bonded really well with each other and established a family."
Lastly, we also asked her what's her take on Nakuul Mehta and the type of bond she shares with her. To which she replied, "I haven't met with Nakuul yet. Even though we were together on the set but couldn't meet as we were in different units. So, we didn’t have a interaction till now. But I have worked with Shubha Ji previously who plays Nakuul's mother and we're about to do some scenes together which is obvious. But I'm really looking forward to meeting and working with Nakuul. Whenever I have seen him as a performer, I have got really impressed. In Television, I haven't find somebody else that convincing that I stop and watch him but in the case of Nakul, I surely do that. There is something in him and I'm glad that we'll work together."
