Ranveer Singh’s career trajectory has taken a decisive turn with Dhurandhar, and trade analyst Taran Adarsh believes the film has firmly re-established the actor’s standing in the industry. In an exclusive conversation with Bollywood Hungama, Adarsh reflected on the perception surrounding Ranveer before the film’s release and how Dhurandhar altered that narrative with its record-breaking performance.
Speaking about how careers in the film industry are often judged by recent box-office outcomes, Adarsh said, “Every actor, every filmmaker’s identity is based on their previous films. How was your last Friday? It depends on that. It depends on your standing in the industry.”
He noted that prior to Dhurandhar, there was a growing sentiment that Ranveer Singh had fallen behind some of his contemporaries. “Before the release, people were saying that Ranbir Kapoor has come a long way with Animal. Other actors have come a long way. Ranveer Singh, maybe because a few films didn’t work, was left behind,” Adarsh observed.
However, the trade expert was unequivocal about the impact of Dhurandhar. “But now, Ranveer Singh… he has given an epic blockbuster. The return he has had, it was an epic return,” he said, calling the film a defining moment in the actor’s career.
Adarsh also highlighted the strength of the ensemble cast, stressing that the film’s success was not built on one performance alone. “Whether it is Ranveer Singh, or Akshaye Khanna… whether it is Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, or R Madhavan — every character in the film stands out. And in this film, all of them are great,” he said, crediting the writing and execution for giving each actor a strong presence.
Beyond the cast, Adarsh praised the producers Jyoti Deshpande (Jio Studios) and Lokesh Dhar, along with director-producer Aditya Dhar, for backing the film with conviction. “If Jyoti doesn’t put in the money, if they don’t greenlight it, then how will this film move forward? There should be courage, there should be confidence,” he explained.
According to Adarsh, Dhurandhar has had a larger impact beyond box-office numbers. “Because of this film, the confidence that has come into the film industry… there is optimism. There is enthusiasm. We have to move forward. We have to make films like this,” he said, adding that one successful film often encourages better, braver storytelling across the industry.
With Dhurandhar rewriting trade expectations, the franchise is set to expand further. Dhurandhar 2 is currently scheduled for release on March 19, 2026, where it will face a major box-office clash with Yash’s Toxic, setting the stage for one of the most closely watched showdowns of the year.
