Biggest stars of Hindi cinema have been facing challenges to bring audiences to theatres as star power has failed to act as a crowd puller and the massive influx of digital content. Pathaan was one of the examples of a trend breaker that set a new record in terms of box collections of Hindi cinema. But post that stroke of luck, Bollywood continues to struggle when it comes to box office earnings. In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Hungama, trade analyst Taran Adarsh discussed the current state of Hindi cinema and the need for content-driven films.

In this interview, the trade analyst maintained that Hindi Cinema is currently in the state of ICU when comes to its popularity and box office. He also insisted on the need of films that will benefit the exhibitors. “It's so important for the film industry’s business and most importantly it is for the film exhibitors to survive because post-COVID it has been in terrible scenario. The film industry is in an ICU. One Pathaan works but you can't really rely on one Pathaan to take you to safety. You will have to have multiple Pathaans to take you to safety at the box office; otherwise it is not possible,” Taran Adarsh told Bollywood Hungama.

He further discussed on how the need of the hour is content driven films and not star power as he added, “You need to have local films but jo hamari filmein hai uska kamayab hona bahut zaruri hai kyunki humari film industry ek bahut nazuk daur se guzar rahi hai. We are going through a very lean phase so I hope the makers realize in the coming weeks that you need to concentrate on content. We cannot take audiences for granted believing ki jahan star hai wahan audiences dekhne jayenge (where there is a star, audiences will definitely watch it).”
