Sheldon Santos is a celebrity, fashion, and advertising photographer. His work has also been featured in popular leading magazines and newspapers. Sheldon had been working with leading celebrities like Ranveer Singh, Arjun Kapoor, Ananya Panday, Karan Johar, Varun Dhawan, Shraddha Kapoor and many more. In an exclusive video interview with Bollywood Hungama Sheldon shared the story behind the iconic photograph of Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma.
Sheldon Santos revealed that he had been called to Virat and Anushka’s house during Diwali 2019. He said, “I set up this little canvas which I thought will work according to the outfit. I was told Virat's wearing white, so I was like okay anything works.”
Anushka seemed unsure about the background earlier. Sheldon said, “Anushka comes, peeps and says Hi to me and then she was like, 'Oh this background...you are sure?', I said 'ya ya I am really sure'. By the time she was doing her hair, I was thinking will it work or not work, what will happen?”
He added, “I was really confident but until she came and then I started doubting myself.”
However, later when Sheldon saw the test shot of Anushka, he felt a sigh of relief as the backdrop seemed to go well with her outfit. He said, “It looks beautiful and obviously it was flawless like the hair, makeup to the sabyasachi she was wearing. (Everything) put together was beautiful.”
Revealing the story behind Virat and Anushka’s laughing picture, Sheldon said, “First they were posing generically.”
Talking about how he liked to shoot suddenly when someone is not in their posing element he said, “they cracked something between themselves. I was observing them only but was not shooting because they were talking and you don’t want to interrupt.”
He added, “They laughed! They just busted out into this kind of a laughter and I just took my camera and I shot it. They had no idea it was being shot.” He said, “I got this shot. This moment of them purely enjoying each other’s humour or whatever the joke was between them and it was beautiful. They also loved it.”
For the unversed, Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli got married in Italy on December 11, 2017. They were blessed with a baby girl in January 2021.
On the work front, Virat Kohli is currently busy with the IPL (Indian Premiere League). On the other hand, Anushka Sharma surprised her fans with cameo in Qala. The actress is now gearing up for the release of Chakda Xpress. The film will see her play the lead role of former Indian cricketer Jhulan Goswami. It will release on Netflix in 2023. Backed by her brother Karnesh Sharma's production house Clean Slate Filmz, the film also stars Tripti Dimri, Swastika Mukherjee and Babil Khan.
