In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Hungama, actress Shanthi Priya opened up about her decision to step back from acting despite her success in the industry. When asked about what influenced her to take this step, she shared insightful reflections on family values and the importance of settling down.
Shanthi Priya explained, “Whatever I do, I would love to give 1,000% of me. So, when we were into acting when as a parent, when my mother used to discuss with us, like how a family has to go, you can work but, in our profession, we are not under one roof and because we have to travel a lot, we don't have time schedules and everything.”
The actress elaborated on her mother's advice, saying, “Mom always like a family oriented person, she used to always say, ‘the career you guys are in, if you all are planning to get married, I think you all should settle down, because then you all can focus on your family, husband.’”
Reflecting on her own journey, Shanthi Priya stated, “The other reason was because the language is totally different. The marriage where I took place was is a Maharashtrian Bengali, so totally for me a new place to understand. The in laws, my family, my relatives from my husband's side, so I thought what my mom said was right. I cannot just get married for the sake of love and get married and then I will still continue.”
For the unversed, the veteran actress has predominantly worked in Telugu and Tamil. She is widely known for Saugandh and Phool Aur Angaar, among others. She was recently seen in the MX Player series Dharavi Bank. She will be next in the biopic of Sarojini Naidu.
