Four More Shots Please actress Maanvi Gagroo has said that on screen the society have not seen female sexuality being expressed. The actress also addressed how female sexuality is wrongly presented on screen. In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Hungama, while talking about the film and web industry, Maanvi said, “Women have always been looked at as sexual beings. They have been seen as objects of sex. That’s why your lead actress is of a certain kind. But there’s nothing like that for the lead actor. We have had the lead actors who are tall, short, fat, thin, dark, fair, long-hair, short-hair, but the lead actress is like a perfect cutout and everybody over the years is trying to fit into that. That’s because women have always been portrayed as objects of desire.”

She continued, “Now as a society we are expanding and growing, so we realized that sexuality in general is a spectrum. So there are asexual, pan-sexual and all the different nomenclatures. But till now, we never saw female sexuality being expressed on screen. We always saw that sex was done to them, like they were either being raped or in a violent setup or even if there was a love making scene, they were being had sex with. It wasn’t like there were two people in love making love. It was always a man having sex with the women.”

She also shared her experience of working on film PK and said that they get to eat food cooked at Anushka Sharma’s home. She talked about portrayal of women in Indian cinema. She says that there’re no rules in this industry and that it’s not a structured industry. She also says that there’s not a dignity of labour in our country. She further says that if you are not a top star, you won’t get respect in this industry.

On the work front, Maanvi is known for her work in web series like TVF Pitchers, TVF Tripling, Made in Heaven and Four More Shots Please! In 2019, she portrayed the character of Apsara, a plus size woman in a comedy movie Ujda Chaman opposite Sunny Singh. She has also worked with Ayushmann Khurrana in 2020 film Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan.
