EXCLUSIVE: Rajkummar Rao: “When I thought of becoming an actor, Shah Rukh Khan sir had a big influence on me” : Bollywood News

Renowned Bollywood actor Rajkummar Rao recently engaged in a rapid-fire round where he shared fascinating insights about his “firsts.” From his initial audition experiences to celebrity encounters, Rajkummar provided fans with a glimpse into his journey as an actor.

EXCLUSIVE: Rajkummar Rao: “When I thought of becoming an actor, Shah Rukh Khan sir had a big influence on me”

In an exclusive video interview with Bollywood Hungama, recalling his early days, Rajkummar reminisced about his first audition, which happened to be for a bank commercial. Despite being one of many characters, this audition marked the beginning of his acting endeavours and paved the way for his future in the industry. Rao said, “My first audition was for an ad. If I am not wrong, it was for one of the banks and I was playing one of the characters in between so many characters.”

Further Rajkummar Rao fondly recalled his early days at the Shri Ram Centre for Performing Arts in Delhi, where he encountered several television actors who had a profound impact on him. He said, “The dream I saw long back since I was a kid and then when I started doing theatre, I was in an institute Shri Ram Centre for Performing Arts in Delhi in Mandi House and there I saw few actors from television, and I used to get very excited seeing them. I would go up to them and take their autographs. I also met Vijay Raaz sir and I was very thrilled meeting him.”

Well, it is no surprise to anyone that Rajkummar Rao is one true admirer of superstar Shah Rukh Khan. When asked about first song that he remembers entire lyrics of, Rao said, “I think any Shah Rukh sir’s song from DDLJ even before that Baazigar.” He further credited Shah Rukh Khan for inspiring him to pursue acting. “When I thought of becoming an actor, he had a big influence on me,” Rao said.

Meanwhile on the film front, Rajkummar Rao recently starred in Anubhav Sinha’s film Bheed. The film also featured Bhumi Pednekar, Pankaj Kapur and Dia Mirza. Bheed is about the hardships faced by a section of the people because of the lockdown imposed in 2020 to combat the COVID-19 pandemic. Interestingly, the film has been shot in black and white format by Anubhav Sinha.
