EXCLUSIVE: “I have nothing in that space” – says Lucky Ali on his stint in Bollywood as a playback singer : Bollywood News

Lucky Ali, the man who gave several iconic and melodious songs to Bollywood, left the mainstream Bollywood music industry a couple of years ago. Hailing from a film background, Ali is the second of the nine children of Bollywood actor, Mehmood. He debuted in Bollywood with the song ‘Nasha Nasha’ in the movie Dushman Duniya Ka. He last sung ‘Safarnama’ in the 2015 film Tamasha starring Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone.

Now that the singer has stopped working as a playback singer, he talked about leaving the industry in an exclusive interview with Bollywood Hungama. When asked if he was unhappy with his stint as a playback singer in Bollywood, Lucky confessed, “I have nothing in that space, I mean basically for me like it was over when dad passed away. With dad, I also had the opportunity to get out. Because I had to learn whatever I needed to learn from that space and god bless them. But it's really bad in that sense you might have had other complaints at some points but at some point now as you grow older you look at things through a wider perspective and with more understanding.”

He further added, “Everything is like a university of life, I was born in that space so it was not something that I was like having met with people who mattered to the people of who I was born. So, that's what it is, you learn from what you are exposed to.”

The singer further said, “Then there was the natural od Mussoorie where I went boarding school to, So I used to bunk school just to get into the mountains and there used to be this new trio of all these hill places like Chamasari and all that kind of things. So, I used to bunk school and someone used to proxy for me and the friend of mine was still there. So it allows you to when you have that kind of space then there are no inhibitions, you can just freely do things and I had that lovely thing and I experimented with that and we just did naturally.”
