Alia Bhatt who started her acting career with the film Student Of The Year in 2012 will be completing a decade in the industry this year. The prolific actor will begin her year with the much-anticipated film Gangubai Kathiawadi in which she plays the titular role. The film also marks Alia’s first collaboration with Sanjay Leela Bhansali.

Ahead of the release of Gangubai Kathiawadi, Alia Bhatt in an interview with Bollywood Hungama spoke about the memes made on her at the beginning of her career to now being praised by her peers, juniors, and seniors artists for her performance and dedication to the craft. "I have no issue with memes. I find them quite funny. I have said before as well that memes only add to your popularity," she said.

Further talking about the appreciation she receives, Alia said, "I don't think there has been any formula with which I have said that okay now I want people to praise me or I want people to idolise me or any of that. I feel very grateful whenever people say lovely things. Firstly, it makes me feel pretty old and then I feel very flattered. My main thing is to do what comes from the heart. Every film that I have done has been from here (points to her heart). Most of the time it has worked and sometimes it has not and I have learnt even from those experiences. But I am a very all-out sort of person - Aar Ya Paar. Toh jab mai jaate hu mai aar jaati hu, nahi toh nahi jaati hu. (When I go ahead I go all the way or else I do not go at all)."
