Speaking exclusively to Bollywood Hungama, Nia Sharma spoke about what this celebrity dance show means to her. She said, “Being a part of Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa means power, fun, and my happiest moment.” She also described why dance is so important to her. “It means emoting your happiness. When you're happy, you want to jump and you want to just dance it out. You want to express your happiness. It’s like your vibe. For me, dancing is when I'm in my vibe.”

Ask if she has received any professional training and the actress revealed that she has definitely become better due to the projects she has done in the past but is looking forward to doing a lot of more of it in the show. “I have not done professional dancing. I have only danced and learned dancing for the music videos that came my way or for the dance numbers I have done. So thoda bahut better hui hoon (I have become a little better) but you can’t say I am professionally trained,” she mentioned.

She also spoke about being nervous about dancing in front of some of the best dancers in Bollywood like Madhuri Dixit and Nora Fatehi and her experience on the first day of the shoot. Nia shared, “I was nervous but kyunki first episode, shoot ho gaya hai, mainne dekh liya hai how it goes (the first episode has already been shot and now I know how it goes). I've seen that stage, I've touched it, and I have felt the grandeur of the set. So woh saari feelings nikal gayi (those feelings disappeared). And they were the warmest set of judges I've ever met. They had only good things to say about you. Even if they had to point out your mistakes, it is always in a positive manner. So they were very welcoming. And the entire vibe on the set was super cool, super amazing. So I would say that was fun!”

She also revealed that she wants to dance on Madhuri Dixit’s ‘K Sera Sera’ from Pukar, Nora Fatehi’s ‘Saaki Saaki’ from Batla House, and Karan Johar aka Dharma Productions’ song, ‘Radha Teri Chunari’ from their film Student Of The Year.

Elaborating on why she is nervous and afraid, Nia added, “I am afraid of everybody who would point out my mistakes and who will tell me the harshest things of course. But I am ready to accept their criticism too.”

Describing her bond with her choreographer Tarun Nihalani, Nia stated, “There was no breaking ice because you know, you're with them in this journey for four months, you have to warm up to them, you have to be with them. And thankfully, they're all very warm people who are very patient with you while you learn your dances. My choreographer is super cool – woh mujhe zameen mein rehne nahi deta, woh mujhe hawa mein taang ke rakhta hai (he doesn’t let me stay on the floor, he keeps doing lifts throughout). It's just so many other things that I've been learning in the last 20 days that I've never expected.”

“It's been a journey where things are going beyond my expectations, honestly, beyond dancing, a lot of emotions, you know, anxiety, panic attacks, happiness, nervousness, stage fright, fear. I have seen it all I've felt it all and come on. It's just beautiful to be feeling all of these things,” she concluded.
