Mani Ratnam and Jayendra Panchapakesan got exclusive with Bollywood Hungama and spoke about Navarasa, fundraising covid activity, digital debut, A. R. Rahman and much more. When asked if there is a liberation in digital screening as compared to Friday releases Mani Ratnam said, “Once a movie moves from a theatre to streaming platform may be the profile of the people watching it could change but still the struggle of telling a story effectively, telling a story truthfully and being able to connect with people who are watching it is still the same”. Jayendra spoke on the fundraising activity jointly conducted by him and Mani Ratnam in Tamil Nadu during the Covid- 19 Pandemic.

Sharing his experience of collaborating with the artists, the director said, “First of all I have to thank all of them because they have really gone out of the way to be a part of this project and worked for it and tried their best in putting everything into it. It is a new experience for us to work with 9 different stories, 9 different directors, 9 several actors. To collaborate with other filmmakers is so much easy. So where you can say and what you can say and give them enough rope to do the way they want to do. So that balance was good, it was nice”. When asked if we can see him directing a proper film or series for any OTT platform, he said, “Yeah as long as I have a story to say which will be right for it then definitely 100%”.
