EXCLUSIVE: Milap Zaveri begins work on his next directorial venture; also writing Sanjay Gupta, Mohit Suri, Remo D’Souza and Kookie Gulati’s next films

Milap Zaveri got into a different league with the success of his action-packed directorial venture, Satyameva Jayate (2018), starring John Abraham and Manoj Bajpayee. This was followed by Marjaavaan (2019), which was also a box office success. Satyameva Jayate 2 (2021), featuring John Abraham in a triple role, sadly failed. There has been no news of him ever since. However, Milap has been silently working on not just his next directorial venture but also several writing projects.

Milap Zaveri exclusively told Bollywood Hungama, “I’ve written the dialogue for Sanjay Gupta’s The Miranda Brothers, starring Harshvardhan Rane and Meezaan Jafri. It’s my seventh film with Sanjay Gupta’s company after Kaante (2002), Plan (2004), Musafir (2004), Woodstock Villa (2008), Shootout At Wadala (2013) and Alibaug. I am writing dialogues for his next film too.”

Milap Zaveri continued, “I am also writing the story, screenplay and dialogues for Mohit Suri’s next and story, screenplay and dialogues for Kookie Gulati’s next. I am also penning the screenplay and dialogues for Remo D’Souza’s next film as well as writing his web series.”

Amid so many writing assignments, Milap Zaveri has also found time to work on his directorial venture. He said, “It’s a work in progress. It’s a powerful action drama and will go on floors next year.”

Milap Zaveri said that he’s excited with his current assignments, “Since I began work on Satyameva Jayate, I haven’t written for others. This year, suddenly, everybody started calling me and expressing their desire to work with me.”

Milap added, “I have worked throughout my career with Sanjay Gupta. Hence, it was so amazing to write for him again. And my biggest grosser as a writer was Ek Villain (2014) which was Mohit Suri’s film. Collaborating with him is always a pleasure. Remo D’Souza and Kookie Gulati have also been damn good directors and they have been friends for years. Writing for them is also a great feeling.”

Milap Zaveri is known for dialogues that pack a punch. Hence, it was fitting that he signed off our conversation with massy lines, “My pen is as strong as my direction. Jitna dum heroes ke bazuuon mein hai, utni taakat mere kalam mein hai!”
