Actor Mahima Chaudhary recently revealed that she was initially hesitant to be part of Baghban, despite the opportunity to work with filmmaker Ravi Chopra and veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan. Speaking at the Bollywood Hungama OTT India Fest 2025, the actor shared that she had originally planned to turn down the film’s guest appearance.
Mahima explained that during the 1990s, actors sometimes agreed to projects out of respect for senior filmmakers rather than purely for the role itself. “In the ’90s we did do some films because somebody told us or they were very senior in the industry; so we did it out of respect. I don’t see people do that now.”
Recalling how she came on board Baghban, Mahima said she was unsure about doing a guest appearance at the time. “When Ravi ji called me for Baghban, I had no intention of doing for a guest appearance.”
However, she eventually agreed to the role because of her respect for Ravi Chopra and his standing in the industry. “Because Ravi saab called me and obviously Ravi Chopra was very respected in the industry, I said okay.”
Looking back, Mahima said she is glad she accepted the film, especially because it gave her the opportunity to work with Amitabh Bachchan and be part of a project that continues to resonate with audiences.
“I’m so happy today because so many things happened. I got to work with Mr. Bachchan. Until today, it has such a great shelf life, Baghban. I go places and people say, ‘Oh, I love Baghban. I love that song.’ So sometimes good comes out of it.”
