EXCLUSIVE: “Krushna Abhishek is an angry young man in Fire Of Love: Red,” says producer Rajeev Chaudhari

Krushna Abhishek will be seen in a different avatar in Fire Of Love: Red.

Krushna Abhishek’s upcoming film is uniquely titled Fire Of Love: Red, which is directed by Ashok Tyagi. The film’s producer Rajeev Chaudhari told Bollywood Hungama that they were compelled to go with this title. “We wanted to name the movie Red. But the title was with Anil Kapoor, I think. So IMPPA (Indian Motion Pictures Producers’ Association) asked us to diminish the essence of Red in the title. So, we made it Fire Of Love: Red,” he said. The film stars Payal Ghosh opposite Krushna.

He added that the title also goes with Krushna’s character in the film. “There is fire in the film because Krushna Abhishek, the hero, is not a happy-go-lucky person who goes after girls. He is an angry young man in the film. He is a psycho killer. His wife has actually ditched him but that was due to the circumstances. He was also in some compulsion, and that’s how he became a killer, which even he doesn’t realize. There is fire of love inside him. So, I said it should be Fire Of Love: Red,” said the producer.

But Krushna’s character is way different earlier in the story, as revealed by Chaudhari. “Once upon a time he was a very seedha-sadha krantikari type writer. In today’s language, he used to write boring stuff. But it never used to sell. People used to throw it on his face. Then he got converted and started writing on sex, glamour and suspense-oriented novels and it started clicking. He became a big successful writer. But there are people who object (to his writing), saying that he is going overboard,” he said.

The poster of Fire Of Love: Red describes the film as “Boldest movie ever made.” When we asked Chaudhari on making such a big claim about the film, he said, “It is bold in the sense of the dialogues, which are written by Ashok Tyagi. It is like a Mahesh Bhatt and BR Ishara type of a film. The dialogues about relationships and husband and wife are so bold that people will get a jolt. He (Tyagi) has been a followed of Rajneesh, so it has bold lines like him. In terms of dialogues, it is the boldest (film). But the lines are not overboard.”

Chaudhari, who was earlier a film journalist working for a trade magazine, revealed that he had once made a promise to Ashok Tyagi of producing his film. He has fulfilled the promise through Fire Of Love: Red.

The movie stars Kamlesh Sawant in the role of a cop. He has become known as a cop after playing one in quite a few films, especially the Hindi versions of Drishyam and Drishyam 2. Chaudhari revealed that Tyagi was earlier thinking of casting more famous names for that role.

“He wanted Jackie Shroff ji,” said the producer. “Shatrugha Sinha was also playing in his mind. But during the discussion, I said that the film is appearing quite realistic, so we shouldn’t make it filmi and take Kamlesh Sawant, who looks like a cop. To make the film commercial, you have to make it filmi. But still we have made it realistic like a Mumbai subject. The film’s requirement was that of a genuine cop. A filmi cop wouldn’t have looked good. The jurisdiction of the story is in Mumbai, so we wanted a Marathi aura in the film.”

Also starring Bharat Dabholkar, Fire Of Love: Red will be releasing in theatres on October 27.
