The makers of the crime-drama web series Raktanchal have started production on its third season, with filming currently taking place in and around Lucknow and Varanasi. Known for its portrayal of power struggles and the crime–politics nexus of Purvanchal in the 1980s, the series returns to Uttar Pradesh to retain its authentic setting.
Raktanchal premiered in 2020 and soon gained attention for its raw storytelling, intense rivalries and strong performances. Set against the backdrop of the tender mafia, the series traces the rise of gang wars and political ambition in eastern Uttar Pradesh. The second season expanded the scope of the conflict, setting the stage for the next chapter.
Season 3 is expected to move the story ahead with increased stakes, more developed character arcs and heightened confrontations. Although plot details remain under wraps, reports suggest the new season will examine the fallout of earlier power shifts while introducing new challenges for the central characters.
A source close to the development shared, “Raktanchal has always been about staying true to its roots. Shooting in and around Lucknow and Varanasi helps the team capture the right atmosphere and detailing that the story demands. Season 3 of the hugely popular series will be bigger in scale and more intense than before.”
The upcoming season will see the return of familiar faces from earlier installments, including Kranti Prakash Jha and Nikitin Dheer, who were key to shaping the series’ central rivalry. An official announcement regarding the complete cast and the release schedule is still awaited.
