Bollywood actor Karan Singh Grover unveiled the difficult journey he and his wife Bipasha Basu endured concerning their daughter Devi's critical heart condition. In a candid interview with Bollywood Hungama, Karan disclosed that Devi was born with two holes in her heart, necessitating an open-heart surgery soon after her birth.
Reflecting on their emotional rollercoaster, Karan expressed gratitude to Mamta Anand, the wife of director Siddharth Anand, for recognizing Devi's fighting spirit. He remarked, “If you knew her story, even though she's 14 months old, she was born with two holes in her heart, and we had to go through an open-heart surgery. When Mamta (Anand, director Siddharth Anand's wife) first heard about it, she's like, 'She's a fighter.' I was like, 'Dude, she is the smallest littlest fighter that we have, and she was the first one.'”
Discussing the challenges they faced as parents, Karan emphasized the strength required in such situations. He said, “Well, we didn't really know till the third day of her birth. I would just say that to be a parent kind of requires some other strength, and respect to all parents, man. And I think it was a very, very difficult situation.”
Earlier, in a video posted by Bipasha Basu of her interaction with Neha Dhupia, she had opened up about her daughter Devi being diagnosed with VSD (Ventricular Septal Defect), three days after she was born. “Our journey has been very different from any normal mother-father, it has been a lot tougher than the smile that I have on my face right now. I would not wish this to happen to any mother. For a new mother, when you get to know that... I got to know on the third day of me having a baby that our baby is born with two holes in her heart. I thought I'll not share this, but I'm sharing this because I feel that there are a lot of mothers, who helped me in this journey, and it was very difficult to find those mothers...,” revealed Basu.
Meanwhile on the work front, Bipasha Basu was last seen on the big screen in the film Alone with Karan Singh Grover. The couple once again were seen together in the web series Dangerous in 2020, which is streaming on MX Player. The actress also essayed the character of an anchor in the horror show Darr Sabko Lagta Hai which aired on &TV.
On the other hand, Karan was recently seen in Fighter. Talking about the film, directed by Siddharth Anand, Fighter, the aerial action drama has garnered attention for its portrayal of the bravery and dedication of IAF officers who safeguard the nation's skies with unwavering courage. The film is a first-of-its-kind collaboration between the makers and the Indian Air Force who have extended their support to make the inspiring tale of Fighter come to life.
