After much anticipation, Brahmastra released in the theatres on September 9. The film helmed by Ayan Mukerji received mixed responses amongst critics and audiences for the dialogues but it has also received praise for its attempt in making a fantasy mythology modern drama and being a visual spectacle. However, the filmmaker Karan Johar, who is the producer of the movie, said that since the movie took a long time to make, he was under pressure days before the release of the film in the theatres.
In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Hungama, Karan Johar said that they were under pressure before the release of the Ranbir Kapoor-Alia Bhatt starrer. He said, “I was humongously stressed. The night prior I could sleep a wink, and I was not able to tell Ayan this, or Ranbir or Alia, because I felt like I had to be like ‘yay, we’ve done this, it’s great, it is going to be massive and don’t worry’. There were all kinds of mixed reviews coming up (after the release) and people were saying either it was amazing or the opposite of it. I felt it (Brahmastra) was such new animal in the jungle, people were having adverse opinions.”
On the professional front, Karan Johar’s next directorial is Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani. The film stars Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan and Shabana Azmi. The film is slated for 2023 release. The filmmaker is also planning to direct an action entertainer with hopes to kick off the shoot in April 2023.
