Filmmaker Karan Johar is always making headlines. While he may have been enjoying the abundant success of Brahmastra, which was produced by Dharma Productions, he is also working on the post-production of his next directorial Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani. Speaking to Bollywood Hungama recently, the filmmaker talked at length about his career, social media, and more.
During the rapid-fire segment, when asked to name a yesteryear star who would be making waves on social media now, the filmmaker couldn’t name any but did say that many veteran actors are definitely rocking it on social media now. But, he does miss Rishi Kapoor. “Well, Mr. Bachchan is a living legend who's rocking it on social media. But besides him, I think, and I miss Chintu ji (Rishi Kapoor) because he was so funny and so amazingly candid, that I think social media really misses, Every time I feel like the industry is going through some turbulence I'm like ‘If Chintu ji was here, he would have really given a good, kadak (solid) jawab (answer) to many of the people who were saying many strange things. But from the yesteryears, I think I mean, they're all a lot of them are still like, I love Dharam ji (Dharmendra) Instagram videos, I think they're also amazing. I can’t think of anyone at that time. I think a lot of them would have been very shocked to handle, I would say, the trials and tribulations of social media,” he told Bollywood Hungama.
On the professional front, Karan Johar’s next directorial is Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani. The film stars Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan and Shabana Azmi. The film is slated for a 2023 release. The filmmaker is also planning to direct an action entertainer with hopes to kick off the shoot in April 2023.
