Ahead of the release of her long-format debut with The Trial: Pyaar, Kanoon, Dhoka, Kajol spoke to Bollywood Hungama about her character, Noyonika Sengupta. She said that Noyonika is a character that many women can relate to.

"I would say that Noyonika's character is pretty much every woman," Kajol said. "That's the great thing about Noyonika's character because I think every woman and I've spoken to so many women, and so many parents, I think when you become a parent, there is this responsibility, that I have two kids, and I have to do what is required to do at that moment.”

She continued, “It may not be the most popular decision, and it may not be something that I even want to do, because it may go against my entire grain and ethic. But if it needs to be done, I will do it. Maybe a little bit of humiliation, and disrespect, maybe people will look at me and laugh at me. But if I need to do it, I will need to do it.”

Kajol further added, “Every parent and every married person understands that, that there are things that you need to do at certain times in your life, which you may like or not like, and that is Noyonika. And that's why I'm saying that every human being, I would say not only women, I would say every parent, every married person understands that part of Noyonika and identifies with her."
