Jio Studios is having a rocking 2024. All their theatrical films this year have worked big time be it Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya, Article 370, Laapataa Ladies, Shaitaan or above all, Stree 2. The latter has crossed the Rs. 500 crore mark at the box office, shocking the trade and industry. And that’s not all. Jio Studios has two more exciting releases – Singham Again and Baby John. Jyoti Deshpande – President – Media Business, RIL spoke exclusively with Bollywood Hungama and opened up about Baby John, starring Varun Dhawan.

Jyoti Deshpande said, “We are excited about it as it marks our first collaboration with Atlee, who brings his very own energy and ‘X’ factor to anything that he touches. Baby John is going to blow people’s minds because it has a never-before-seen performance by Varun Dhawan. It is mounted on a very big scale. The subject is very topical. It’s coming on Christmas as we need a very big date for the film. The music and background score are out of the world. The South filmmakers present their heroes in a very different and stylized manner and you’ll see that happening in Baby John. And I think we’ve got another franchise on our way with that character.”

Does she mean that a sequel to Baby John can be expected? Jyoti Deshpande smiled and replied, “It’s another character-based franchise that you have to watch out for! Its marketing will begin after the release of Singham Again.”

When asked if its promo will be attached with Singham Again, she said, “Of course.”

While Singham Again releases on Diwali, that is, November 1, Baby John, directed by Kalees, arrives in cinemas on December 25. Besides Varun Dhawan, it also stars Keerthy Suresh and Wamiqa Gabbi. It is also produced by Murad Khetani's Cine1 Studios and Atlee's A For Apple Productions.
