From television to films, Jiya Shankar has explored fictional content in many languages but reality show is fairly a new space for the Ved actress. While she was keen on kickstarting her next film, the latter got postponed, opening up the perfect opportunity for the actress to explore the reality space. “It was all about timing and this happened,” revealed Jiya as she opened up to Bollywood Hungama about her Bigg Boss entry.
Calling it a ‘once-in-a-lifetime’ experience, Jiya Shankar said, “I always wondered how I would react in such situations if I was there. I wanted to experience it. It’s also a great way for all my fans to see the real me and not all characters that they have been seen me in.” And added, “I want people to connect with me know the real me. Because you don't often get to know actors on a personal level. Their life is all about what the media shows or it's very restricted with only bits and pieces revealed of how they want to portray themselves in front of people. But Bigg Boss is something that you cannot plan or do any such thing. Your true self is going to come out in front of the world. And I'm choosing that,” Jiya maintained.
One of the key disadvantages of a show like Bigg Boss is the focus it places one’s personal life, but Jiya asserted that she is prepared for all the drama that may follow. “I am prepared for it. If at all, any such situation happens people might say few things to ruin my reputation. I will accept it because I am not ashamed of my mistakes. I tend to I own up to my mistakes. And my mom, my family knows about everything that I've done in my life. So, I have nothing to hide. If I don't have that fear of coming home, I don't have to fear anything else.”
In the same breath, Jiya also confessed to Bollywood Hungama, that she is quite emotional in nature. “I can get emotional. I am an emotional fool. So, I just have to keep my emotions under control. And not just trust anybody easily. Which I happen to do”. She continued, “But I also know that no matter what happens, I will stand back tall. Even if I feel it is taxing and I can't take this anymore, I will stand back up and I will fight. And when I start fighting, I know that I will win”.
