EXCLUSIVE: Having Hrithik Roshan in Pathaan would have been too premature, reveals writer Abbas Tyrewala : Bollywood News

Shah Rukh Khan’s comeback in the form of Pathaan has been creating waves not just in India but also abroad, ever since it was released a week ago. One of the most exciting moments in the film is the one where Salman Khan enters the scene as Tiger from the Tiger franchise to help Pathaan (Shah Rukh).

Tiger entered the film because both Pathaan and the Tiger series are from the same spy universe created by Yash Raj Films. Similarly, the Hrithik Roshan starrer War too belongs from the same universe. Hence, there was expectation of Hrithik too playing a cameo as Kabir from War. But that wasn’t to be.

When Bollywood Hungama asked Pathaan’s dialogue writer Abbas Tyrewala on whether there was ever a creative discussion among the makers on having Kabir’s cameo too in Pathaan, he told us exclusively, “I think it (having Hrithik’s cameo in Pathaan) would have been too premature. The discussion never came up. It was not a part of the story.”

Tyrewala elaborated saying that having Pathaan and Tiger together was just the first step in integrating these universes. “This happened naturally,” he said. “The idea of perhaps someday seeing Tiger and Kabir together and Pathaan and Kabir together is as much as an event as seeing Tiger and Pathaan together. Why would you use both in one film?”

But Tyrewala hinted at the possibility of Hrithik playing a cameo in the future films from Pathaan and Tiger series. “Let’s save our joys and hopefully if there are future films in the spy universe that Yash Raj is creating, then I am sure we will get a thrill in each movie, rather than trying to do them all in one,” he said.

The next spy movie in the YRF Spy Universe is the Salman-starrer Tiger 3, which will release this year during Diwali. As hinted by SRK’s character in Pathaan, he would be playing a cameo in the film to help Tiger.
