EXCLUSIVE: Black Adam star Quintessa Swindell on working with Noah Centineo and possibility of Justice Society Of America spin-off – “It would be incredible”
Quintessa plays one of the superheroes in the Justice Society Of America which gets introduced for the first time in the cinematic universe. Swindell stars alongside Noah Centineo, who had his breakout moment with the To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before franchise. He plays the role of Atom Smasher in the movie and Swindell says that the actor really handled the fame really well. She said, “With Noah Centineo, he's my age, and, he's done so much and he's handled it all with so much grace that every time we would talk or be around one another, I just be like ‘Wow, this is someone who really has themselves on lock and still continues to grow and is still inspired and fascinated by how this industry shapes through every single project.’.”
Swindell studied theatre at Marymount Manhattan before dropping out to pursue acting in Los Angeles. With the massive project at the scale of Black Adam, there can be several possibilities of spin-offs. With Marvel turning several characters from MCU and giving them their own TV shows on Disney+, it won’t be surprising if Justice Society Of America has a shot at the HBO Max show. Would Quintessa be interested in such kind of project? She said, “I feel the idea of it would be incredible. Whatever they decide at DC, but the opportunity to also do a spin-off means just growing the character even more and discovering more about the character in the world and the universe. I think that is something that's so exciting, especially as it pertains to the DC universe and how expansive and how different each character is. Learning more about that, for me personally, and also character-wise is just an incredible thought and an incredible opportunity if it comes up. I'm like [taking] ‘step by step, day by day’ and that'd be incredible.”
Black Adam’s screenplay is written by Adam Sztykiel and Rory Haines & Sohrab Noshirvani, based on characters from DC, based on characters created by Bill Parker and C.C. Beck. The film’s producers are Beau Flynn, Dwayne Johnson, Hiram Garcia and Dany Garcia, with Walter Hamada, Adam Schlagman, Richard Brener, Dave Neustadter, Chris Pan, Eric McLeod, Geoff Johns and Scott Sheldon executive producing.
Black Adam is directed by Jaume Collett-Serra. The film released in theaters on October 21 in English, Hindi, Tamil & Telugu.
