Arshad Warsi’s latest cameo as Ghafoor Bhai in Aryan Khan’s directorial debut, The Ba***ds of Bollywood, has turned into one of the film’s biggest talking points. Though his role was brief, it left a lasting impression on audiences, thanks to his trademark wit and effortless comic timing.

Now, in an exclusive chat with Bollywood Hungama, the actor gave fans a peek behind the scenes — and his stories are just as entertaining as his performance. “When I talk about Ghafoor, I can’t help but laugh,” Arshad began with his usual candour. “Mujhe jhoote padenge agar main baat nahi karunga Ghafoor ki (I’ll get beaten if I don’t talk about Ghafoor)!” he joked, recalling how much fun he had bringing the character to life.

According to the actor, the energy around Ghafoor started building even before the film released. “The minute that scene came, it was crazy,” Arshad said. “He’s so bloody sweet — he shoots the scene with full music, camera angles, everything, and then sends it to me!”

Laughing, he revealed that it was his assistant who kept the fun alive off-set. “They all shoot with music, with camera angle,” he chuckled. “And then he sends, ‘Sir, this is what we’re doing!’ It’s too sweet, yaar.”

One of his favourite memories from filming, Arshad said, was the now-iconic gold coin scene. “Ghafoor ka har scene mujhe pasand aaya (I loved every scene of Ghafoor),” he shared. “But when the gold coin scene happened, I was laughing myself after the shot!”

His co-star Jitendra Kumar, who shared screen space with him, couldn’t agree more. “Sir ka comic timing bahut achha hai (Sir’s comic timing is brilliant),” Jitendra said, adding, “Har take mein kuch naya kar dete hain (he does something new in every take).”

Reminiscing about the overall vibe on set, Arshad added, “Set par maahol bahut positive tha (the atmosphere on set was very positive). Everyone was enjoying themselves — that’s when the best work happens.”

No wonder fans can’t get enough of Ghafoor Bhai — a character as spontaneous and loveable as the man who plays him. With Arshad Warsi’s impeccable timing and infectious energy, The Ba***ds of Bollywood has found one of its most memorable highlights.
