Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap is all set to bring his upcoming directorial Nishaanchi to the big screen, and he believes the film’s essence carries the spirit of classic Bollywood. “The screenplay is very, very much like a Salim-Javed film,” Kashyap revealed in a conversation with Bollywood Hungama. “It’s like the films of the ’60s, ’70s, and ’80s. It actually begins in 1986.”
Kashyap also shared an interesting story about how Nishaanchi found its international producer, Amazon MGM Studios. “I was looking for anyone who would do the film because they really wanted to do the film. I met the head of Amazon MGM Studios on a flight to Melbourne. It was a long flight. We were sitting idle, so I gave her the script to read. Midway through the flight, she used the Wi-Fi to send the script to her whole team, just to get their feedback. This was greenlit on a plane. By the time the plane landed, she said, ‘Let’s do this.’”
Speaking of Nishaanchi, it is releasing on September 19. Directed by Anurag Kashyap and produced by Ajay Rai and Ranjan Singh under Jar Pictures, in association with Flip Films, Nishaanchi is written by Prasoon Mishra, Ranjan Chandel, and Anurag Kashyap. The film is headlined by debutant Aaishvary Thackeray in a fiery double role, alongside a brilliant cast featuring Vedika Pinto, Monika Panwar, Mohd Zeeshan Ayyub, and Kumud Mishra in pivotal roles.
