From Saas Bina Sasural to now, Zyada Mat Udd, telly actress Aishwarya Sakhuja, has returned to the comedy genre as she is all set to entertain audiences with her effortless screen presence in this new sitcom that will air on Colors. The show, set in the world of aviation, brings a fresh and humorous take on the lives of airline crew members.
As it revolves around the functions of the air staff, the actors had to undergo significant preparation to make their portrayals authentic. For Aishwarya, this meant reconnecting with her cousin, who is an air hostess, after several years. "We did have to prep to understand the workings of an aircrew better and I did that by getting in touch with my cousin who's an air hostess herself. I think I must have called her after around six to seven years and she was surprised to hear from me. But she knew immediately that there's some work that's lined up. I made her send a few videos of her in order to understand how the air hostess is supposed to behave, the flight safety instructions, the things that go behind working in a galley instead of just you know serving the passengers, there's so much more to that than meets the eye. So yes, on my end I did do that”.
“Also, we started the readings for the show a month prior before we went on floor that helped us gauge our respective characters really well and there were no teething issues that we faced as opposed to when you are not really prepared, you have not done your readings with the entire cast and crew and you just randomly just show up on set and you give your first shot. So, I think in that sense we were all very, very prepared," she insisted.
Talking about the atmosphere on the sets, Aishwarya shared that while it is a comedy show filled with fun moments, there are times when the pressure mounts due to tight schedules.
"The atmosphere on the sets of course is fun and entertaining because it's a comedy show and we see the crew smiling behind the monitor so we know that possibly we are doing a good job out of making sure that the jokes land. But, sometimes it does get stressful because you know we have certain footages to deliver and are kind of running short on time with the show airing like right now. So, during these times, it does get stressful but overall it’s okay because we all have a personal equation from the very start of the show. In fact, just before we started shooting, I told you that you know we have been doing our readings we've been meeting each other often, our numbers were exchanged we interacted with each other as people and not just actors. So, that is something really commendable on the team's part that they made sure that we all get to know each other personally. Funny incidents that I would like to share is there was this one sequence where I do something really unpredictable and I won't call it funny but once I was done everybody was clapping, everybody was cheering for me so that was something that really made me overwhelmed and I came into my room and I cried my heart out of happiness so yeah it wasn't funny but it was definitely emotional."
With Zyada Mat Udd gearing up for its television debut on March 8, Aishwarya Sakhuja’s dedication to her role and her behind-the-scenes camaraderie with the team is definitely something that has made her fans eager to see her bring humor and heart to this unique sitcom.
