Known for films like Yuva, Dhoom, No Entry, among others, Esha Deol got candid about the film offers she had received. In an interview with Bollywood Bubble, Esha Deol said, “I regret passing on Golmaal - the first part. If I name all the films that I passed on, people would want to throw a slipper at me. But honestly speaking, the people who went on to do those films and those characters have done a fantastic job. I even rejected Omkara. I was asked for the role that Bipasha Basu ended up playing, but she was absolutely… she justified that role. I am glad she did it, she was so good.”

Speaking of Omkara, the film featured Bipasha Basu as a bar dancer who is the love interest of Vivek Oberoi, and later gets engaged to him. The Vishal Bhardwaj directorial was a multi starrer, set against the backdrop of rural North India, and inspired by the Willaim Shakespeare novel Othello. The film also starred Ajay Devgn, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Saif Ali Khan, Konkana Sen Sharma, among others.

On the other hand, the Rohit Shetty directorial Golmaal, which has currently become a popular franchise, kicked off its instalment with Ajay Devgn, Arshad Warsi, Sharman Joshi, and Tusshar Kapoor as the leads. The first instalment also featured Rimi Sen as the leading lady along with Paresh Rawal, Sushmita Mukherjee, among others.
