The trailer launch of Dono turned out to be one of the most memorable events of the year. The love story, which releases on October 5, launches Sunny Deol’s son Rajveer Deol and Poonam Dhillon and Ashok Thakeria’s daughter Paloma. That’s not all. It is also the directorial debut of Sooraj Barjatya’s son, Avnish S Barjatya. As a result, not just the cast and crew, but Sunny Deol, Poonam Dhillon, Ashok Thakeria, Sooraj Barjatya, Kamal Kumar Barjatya and Ajit Kumar Barjatya also graced the occasion.

Sunny Deol, fresh out of the blockbuster success of Gadar 2, spoke from the heart at the event. He said, “You all know about Rajshri Productions. Like Disney, they make films for the whole family. That’s what they have been doing ever since. Kabhi behke nahin. This film is also on the same lines. You might say ‘Inn logon ne phir se shaadi ke upar film banayi’. Their films are about extended families coming together during a marriage. Dono is also about marriage, families and emotions. But the difference is that it’s today’s film. It’s a film about today’s generation. I can vouch for it as I have seen the film.”

Sunny Deol then drew parallels with Socha Na Tha (2005), which starred Ayesha Takia and marked the debut of actor Abhay Deol and director Imtiaz Ali. He said, “I had made a movie many years ago, Socha Na Tha. Many of you must have liked it. I remember I showed it to all the journalists as I was so proud of that film. Dono is nothing less than that or maybe even more than Socha Na Tha. Our director has done a wonderful job. He has shown aaj ki generation weddings ko kis tarah dekhti hai. Today, they believe in live-in while parents (prefer the joint family setup and arranged marriage). The way he has assembled all the characters and showed their journey and beliefs is commendable.”

Dono releases in cinemas on October 5.
