Shaitan started streaming on Disney+ Hotstar on June 15, and the show is getting a tremendous response from the viewers. Mahi V Raghav, the creative mind behind the recent Telugu series Save The Tigers has taken an altogether different route with Shaitan. The show kickstarts with explicit trigger warnings and has violence and adult content. It would not be wrong to say that Shaitan is at par with other acclaimed Hindi series like Sacred Games, Mirzapur and Paatal Lok.

Set during the mid-1990s to mid-2000s in rural Telangana, Shaitan revolves around a family entangled in the complexities of police brutality, the Naxal movement, and political dynamics. Moreover, the nine-episode series depicts the harsh truth that those who are economically backward in life suffer the most from the socio-political climate. Savitri, portrayed by Shelly plays the hard-hitting character of a single mother.

Besides this, the thriller features Rishi, Devyani, Jaffer Sadiq and Ravi Kale in pivotal roles. Keeping the viewers engaged from the first episode, Shaitan showcases how Savitri's children choose the path of violence after a lot of suffering. With loads of suspense, the series unfolds through the perspective of Baali, played by Rishi who is involved in a police encounter after threatening the state's Home Minister.

On the other hand, Gumthi is a ruthless character played by Jaffer Sadiq. We loved the daredevil side of him who can cross oceans for his siblings. In addition, Devyani, who has essayed the role of Jayaprada, longs for a peaceful life, but destiny has something else for her. Kudos to Mahi V Raghav for bringing the best out of every character, including the supporting cast of police officers, Naxal leaders and other artists.

With a lot of violence and bloodshed moments, Shaitan raises the curiosity with every episode. Each episode spans around 30 minutes. If you love watching gruesome tales of crime and revenge, Shaitan will surely leave you enthralled. Backed with brilliant performances, the storyline has created wonders for the makers.
