Singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh has released his latest single and music video, ‘Saanvle’, which addresses themes of brown skin identity, self-perception, and acceptance. The track has begun circulating widely across digital platforms since its release.

‘Saanvle’ is produced in collaboration with Raj Ranjodh, who also serves as the song’s composer and lyricist. The track approaches the subject of colourism through a reflective lens, presenting personal experiences rather than overt social commentary. Its tone remains understated, focusing on ideas of confidence and self-worth within a contemporary Punjabi musical framework.

The accompanying music video follows a narrative-driven format, using symbolic and minimalistic visuals to support the song’s theme. The focus remains on mood and performance rather than elaborate storytelling, allowing the subject matter to take precedence. Diljit Dosanjh appears throughout the video, anchoring the narrative with a composed screen presence.

The video features Chandrika Ravi in the lead role. Raised in Melbourne, Ravi is an Australian-born Indian actress and dancer with formal training in dance and theatre from an early age. She has worked across Tamil and Telugu cinema, including films such as Iruttu Araiyil Murattu Kuththu, and has also been part of international projects. Her background in performance contributes to the visual tone of the music video.

In ‘Saanvle’, Ravi’s character aligns with the song’s central focus on individuality and self-acceptance. Her role complements the narrative by visually reinforcing the themes explored in the lyrics, without shifting focus away from the music itself.
