Award-winning actor, producer and UN Goodwill Ambassador Dia Mirza delivered a deeply personal address at Spoken Fest last evening, centring her talk around the idea of ‘Homecoming’ — a theme she connected to both her childhood and her evolving journey as an artist and environmental advocate.
During her speech, Dia traced her bond with nature back to a formative memory of watching her father paint a rainforest mural on her school wall. She described how that image stayed with her long after his passing, becoming a quiet source of strength and comfort. Over the years, as her professional commitments grew more demanding, she found herself returning to that early connection with the natural world in search of balance.
A visit to the forests of Pench, she shared, became a defining moment. Immersed in the wilderness, she experienced a renewed sense of stillness and clarity. The encounter, she suggested, reshaped her perspective — not only personally but professionally — influencing the choices she would go on to make in her career. The experience reinforced her commitment to aligning her work with purpose and intention, both on and off screen.

The year also marks 25 years of Dia Mirza in the film industry. As she steps into 2026, the actor has a varied slate of projects lined up. Among her upcoming releases are Operation Safed Sagar and IKKA, along with a web series co-starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui. She also continues to receive recognition for her award-winning short film Panha, produced under her banner One India Stories.
Beyond her acting assignments, Dia remains actively involved in climate advocacy in her role as a UN Goodwill Ambassador. She is also set to make her debut as an author later this year, adding another dimension to a career that spans cinema, production and environmental engagement.
