A private prayer meet was held on Thursday to honour the life of Dharmendra but despite its discretion, several videos and photos from the gathering have emerged on social media. The emotional meet saw family members and colleagues from Salman Khan to Rekha to Aishwarya Rai come together to pay tribute. The evening was marked by a heartfelt musical homage from Sonu Nigam, whose soulful renditions moved many attendees.

The gathering, titled “Celebration of Life,” was hosted by the Deol family on the lawns of Taj Lands End in Bandra. Present were Dharmendra’s first wife, his children including Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol, Ajeeta and Vijeta as well as his grandsons, and actor Abhay Deol.

During the tribute, Sonu Nigam performed several classic songs from Dharmendra’s films, including ‘Main Kahin Kavi Na Ban Jau,’ ‘Pal Pal Dil Ke Paas,’ ‘Apne Toh Apne Hote Hai,’ ‘Ro Lene De,’ and ‘Yeh Dosti Hum Nahi Todenge.’ A live performance by singer Prithvi Gandharv singing ‘Govind Bolo Hari Gopal Bolo’ was also part of the ceremony. A large portrait of Dharmendra stood at the stage, with a giant screen behind it glowing with the message: “We’ll Miss You.” The lawns were decorated with white floral arrangements and dotted with candid photographs celebrating the actor’s life.
The event lasted from around 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., during which the entire Deol family including Sunny and Bobby appeared visibly emotional. The prayer meet also saw attendance from many major names in Bollywood.
Dharmendra passed away on November 24, 2025, at the age of 89, just days before what would have been his 90th birthday on December 8. He had been discharged from hospital earlier that month and was recuperating at home before his demise. He was cremated in Mumbai on November 25.
