We all know that 2022 kicked off on a rather slow note considering the after-effects of the pandemic. But the second half of the year, kicked off, with many Bollywood film releases hitting the big screen one after the other. However, not many have been able to hold the ground out there. Yet amongst them was Jugjugg Jeeyo, a full-fledged family entertainer coming from the house of Dharma Productions that managed to act as a crowd puller and was one of the commercial potboilers that audiences were excited to see on the silver screen. Now, it seems like the production house managed to end the year with a special for the OTT audiences, in the form of the Vicky Kaushal, Bhumi Pednekar, and Kiara Advani starrer Govinda Naam Mera.

Readers may have already received a glimpse of this entertaining thriller that features many commercial Bollywood elements in its recently released trailer. The film features Vicky Kaushal in the role of a struggling choreographer embroiled in a murder case. The actor plays the role of a Govinda, who already has a complicated life, stuck between his dominating wife played by Bhumi Pednekar and his sexy girlfriend and dance-partner played by Kiara Advani. With a murder being added to the complex web, how Govinda tries to sort out his mess-of-a-life is what the film is about.

As we witnessed, despite its thrilling plotline, the treatment given to the film is quite quirky and it also has love ballads to massy dance numbers to add to the Bollywood twist. The film also sees the Lust Stories couple Vicky Kaushal and Kiara Advani reunite on the big screen in completely different avatars. With yet another multi-genre film in their kitty and immense buzz revolving around the music and trailer of the film, Dharma Productions has certainly managed to end the year with a bang with Govinda Naam Mera.

As for the film, directed by Shashank Khaitan, Govinda Naam Mera premiered today December 16, on Disney+Hotstar.
