Dhanush expressed his reservations to Aanand L Rai regarding Sara Ali Khan’s casting in Atrangi Re, says he was ‘worried’ : Bollywood News

Actor Dhanush has stated on Koffee Shots with Karan that he was a "little worried" when he initially learned that Sara Ali Khan had been cast in Atrangi Re because he wasn’t sure she could do the character justice. In fact, he told filmmaker Aanand L Rai about his worries.

Dhanush expressed his reservations to Aanand L Rai regarding Sara Ali Khan’s casting in Atrangi Re, says he was ‘worried’

"To be very honest, I was a little worried,” Dhanush admitted to host Karan Johar. “It’s such a big role and a very difficult character to play.”

“’How many films has she done?’ I inquired of Aanand ji. At the time, he told me about two or three films. ‘Can she pull it off?’ I wondered,” Dhanush added.

Aanand, on the other hand, persuaded Dhanush that Sara was the ideal choice for the character of Rinku Sooryavanshi. ‘“Aanand ji kept telling me, ‘There is something I need and I see it in her.’ And he does. I don’t know how he cracks that. For some reason, out of nowhere, he brought me here to do Raanjhanaa. He had the conviction that this is my actor for the film. So, he must have seen something in her,” he said.

He further said that Sara is “an actor who has so much to learn but also someone who ‘has an amazing appetite to learn and work hard. If that is there, I think anything is achievable.”

Sara Ali Khan made her acting debut in 2018 with Kedarnath. She has since acted in films such as Simmba, Love Aaj Kal, and Coolie No 1. Her fifth film is titled Atrangi Re. She will next be featured alongside Vicky Kaushal in Laxman Utekar's flick.

Atrangi Re, which also stars Akshay Kumar in a major role, will be released on Disney+ Hotstar on December 24, 2021.
