India Today has acknowledged Padukone as the highest-paid actress in Indian cinema, attributing her success to levelling the playing field for her peers.

Deepika Padukone graced the cover of India Today's 48th Anniversary issue and the actress believes that it is an iconic moment which has been marked as yet another milestone for her in an otherwise super successful year. Reflecting on her journey, Padukone shared, "Through my journey and work and the impact I'm able to have today, I want to see how I can start changing the narrative." This commitment to shaping the narrative aligns with her continuous efforts to challenge stereotypes and pave the way for future generations in the entertainment industry. "When you don't have to demand respect but command it, it is extremely empowering and gratifying," added Deepika.

The year 2023 has undoubtedly been a triumphant one for the actress - from gracing the cover of TIME magazine to becoming the first Indian solo presenter at the Oscars, Padukone has taken another step towards cementing herself as a global icon.

Speaking of her films, Deepika Padukone has had a great year with her release Pathaan with Shah Rukh Khan entering the staggering Rs. 1000 crore club. And she is equally excited for the year ahead, with her next release Fighter, only a couple of weeks away from its release. For the unversed, this aerial actioner will see the actress paired up with Hrithik Roshan for the first time along with Anil Kapoor and an ensemble cast playing key roles. The film is slated for release on January 25.
