“Fielding bohot ho gayi, ab batting chalu!” The trailer of the much anticipated dark comedy Darlings dropped on Monday. The film is all set to premiere on 5th August 2022 on Netflix. The lead actress was in attendance at the launch who recently returned from London after wrapping up her Hollywood movie, Heart Of Stone. Now, the actress is kicking off her maiden production (Eternal Sunshine) with Darlings. When asked if she would like to produce a project for her actor-husband Ranbir Kapoor, this is what she had to say.

“We did discuss it. I actually told him that if you don’t make me produce it, I’ll be very upset! I told him if you don’t want to take me as an actor, that’s totally fine. He told me, ‘No no, I need you, you’re a tyrant,’” the actress said with a smile on her face. She also said she would like to be a creative producer and would like to give inputs during the writing stage.

In an earlier interview with Filmibeat, Ranbir Kapoor had expressed his desire to direct a film. “During the lockdown, I wrote a story, which I liked very much. But I don’t have the skill to go and share that story with people and make a film with them. But yes, direction is more on my wish list than production. Well, my wife is a producer and is a very good producer, so maybe she can produce my film.”

Darlings is produced by Gauri Khan, Alia Bhatt, and Gaurav Verma and marks the feature film debut for director Jasmeet K Reen. With an exceptionally versatile cast including Alia Bhatt, Shefali Shah, Vijay Varma and Roshan Mathew in lead roles, Darlings is a dark comedy entertainer brimming with secrets, mystery, and drama. The film delves into the lives of a resilient mother-daughter, fighting for love and finding their footing in Mumbai whilst also battling their demons.

Meanwhile, Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt will star in Brahmastra. Helmed by Ayan Mukerji, the film is releasing on September 9, 2022.
