Sohum Shah and director Girish Kohli launched the trailer of their film Crazxy at a multiplex in Mumbai. Sohum Shah was in his element and gave a lot of headline worthy quotes.

Sohum Shah began by saying, “This is very different from Tumbbad (2018). During Tumbbad, I had assured that you may or may not like the film but you’ll definitely agree that it was different from the rest of the films. Crazxy is also that kind of a film. You’ll say, ‘Aisa humne kabhi dekha nahin hai Indian cinema mein’. I promise you!”

He then said, “My first film was Ship Of Theseus (2013) but it didn’t have a ship! People in that film were talking in different languages. Koi Gujarati mein baat kar raha hai, koi English mein, koi Egyptian mein! However, I realized that it’s a story that I want to tell. Many people told me, ‘Tu kaisi film bana raha hai. Paagal hai kya? Who watches such films? Comedy bana na!’. I went ahead and made it. It won the National Award.”

Sohum Shah continued, “During Tumbbad, I was told ‘Horror toh B-grade hota hai’. I was mocked over using prosthetics and waiting for the rains to shoot the scenes. But I made it and thanks to Tumbbad, I am here. Nevertheless, people say ‘Aap crazy ho kya? Paagal ho kya? Yeh kaisi filmein banate ho’.”

Sohum Shah raised laughs as he revealed, “Tumbbad’s premiere took place at the Venice Film Festival. Like Shravan Kumar, I took my mother and entire family for the premiere. When the film ended, we got a standing ovation. Meanwhile, my mother was fast asleep! My nephew woke my mother. Meri maa ne baahar aake mujhe gaaliyan di, ‘Tu kaisi filmein banata hai. Itni daraavni film hai. Dadi kitni daraavni thi. Dhang ki film nahin bana sakta?’! So, even my family members call me Crazy!”

Crazxy releases in cinemas on February 28.
