Actress Chitrangda Singh has revealed the deeper reasons behind agreeing to star in the upcoming Netflix crime thriller Raat Akeli Hai: The Bansal Murders. According to her Mid-Day interview, she explained that her decision was driven by the story’s emotional weight and the psychological depth of her character, rather than flash or spectacle.

“I’m drawn to stories that leave a trace on you long after you’ve walked away. Raat Akeli Hai 2 had that quiet tension and emotional weight that I find irresistible. The character lives in these grey, unsettling spaces, and exploring that was both challenging and deeply fulfilling. It’s the kind of part that changes you a little, and those are the roles I say yes to,” Chitrangda said in the interview.

She noted that the film offered a world of moral ambiguity and complex human psychology elements she finds compelling in her work. For Chitrangda, roles that “tug at some corner of your mind” are far more meaningful than transient entertainment.

The project, produced by RSVP and MacGuffin Pictures, also stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Radhika Apte, Deepti Naval, Rajat Kapoor, Revathy, Ila Arun, Sanjay Kapoor, and Akhilendra Mishra. Set in Kanpur, the narrative revolves around a brutal murder within the affluent Bansal family, pulling Inspector Jatil Yadav (played by Nawazuddin) into a dark investigation filled with hidden motives and deception.

Chitrangda’s choice reflects her current artistic direction selecting layered, thought-provoking roles that enrich her craft and linger with audiences well beyond the screen.
