The year 2016 saw a tremendous shift in the films with content driven films being box office success. With Aamir Khan starrer Dangal, the film not only broke many records on the domestic front but it also became a blockbuster internationally as well.
The film continues to win accolades as it won the Best Asian Film award at the prestigious Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts (AACTA). On Wednesday, Sakshi Tanwar, who played Aamir Khan’s wife in Dangal, attended the AACTA where she received the award on behalf of team Dangal.
Dressed in a red and white combination saree, Sakshi Tanwar looked elegant at The Star on December 6, 2017, in Sydney, Australia. She was presented the award by none other than Hollywood superstar Russell Crowe. The pictures of them hugging are doing the rounds of social media after he announced Dangal as the winner.
Shabana Azmi, who was a member of the Grand Jury which was chaired by Russell Crowe, tweeted, “Russell Crowe says he goes where work takes him and is happy to come to India if there is something for him to do.”
Anupam Kher also got an opportunity to meet several Hollywood legends including Russell Crow, Paul Hogan, Phillip Noyce. Sharing pictures with them, he wrote, “Thank you @AACTA for your love, warmth and hospitality. It was wonderful to meet and interact with so many greats from the global film family.
