It’s hard to keep up with Priyanka Chopra‘s global success. The actress has been doing incredible work on television, movies and for charities. Adding another feather to her success, Priyanka Chopra has been appointed as the newest UNICEF Global Goodwill Ambassador.
On Monday, soccer player David Beckham announced Priyanka Chopra’s name at a press conference at United Nations headquarters in New York. She was joined by other Goodwill Ambassadors like Orlando Bloom, Jackie Chan, Ishmael Beah, David Beckham, Angelique Kidjo and Femi Kuti. Sharing a photo with fellow ambassadors, she wrote, “Can’t believe it’s been 10 years!Honored to now serve as @UNICEF Global Goodwill Ambassador along with this amazing group #ForEveryChild.”
As Priyanka Chopra has served as a UNICEF national ambassador in India already, she will now be a force for girls, children and adolescents everywhere. During Monday night’s event, Priyanka expressed her gratitude towards the organization that has left a profound impact on her. She said, “My involvement with UNICEF began almost 10 years ago in India. Today, I stand here humbled, enriched and committed, because of it. Thank you, UNICEF, for the amazing journey so far as well as this huge honor. Along with this decade-old journey, with UNICEF, I have been on many field trips to villages and centers across India. On those trips, I spent time with numerous young girls and their families and experienced firsthand the transformative power of empowering young girls with opportunities that are rightfully theirs.”
Priyanka further added, “Together, with my fellow, dedicated ambassadors, I am now proud to stand with UNICEF to help build the world where children’s rights are respected and protected.”
On the work front, Priyanka Chopra is currently seen in crime drama Quantico. She will also be making her movie debut in Hollywood with Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron starrer Baywatch.
