After the grand success and critical acclaim of ABCD – Any Body Can Dance, Disney UTV announced a sequel to the same last year. While the prequel gave a launching platform to many aspiring dancers in Bollywood, this time around, the film will have actors Varun Dhawan and Shraddha Kapoor dancing to the tunes of masters Remo D’Souza and Prabhu Dheva.
“Last year ABCD took audiences by storm and we instantly knew that it was one of those movies that just naturally lend themselves to becoming a true-blue franchise. Remo and Prabhu are back in action again and we’re delighted to welcome on board two of the brightest young stars of today, Varun Dhawan and Shraddha Kapoor, to take the franchise forward. While ABCD 2 is about great dancing and awesome music and the 3D format, it is also an incredibly emotional and dramatic story that will strike a chord across all ages,” says Siddharth Roy Kapur, Managing Director, Disney India.
Inspired from the true story of an Indian dance troupe that participated in the world Hip Hop Championships, the movie will be shot extensively in Las Vegas, with over 10 songs and extravagant dance sequences that will add grandeur to the exciting script.
“Dance has always been my passion and through ABCD, I saw my passion come to life on the big screen. I am thrilled with the audience’s response to the first movie, which was India’s first 3D dance film. Their response has prompted me to make a sequel and I am happy that Disney is strongly supporting me to make this happen,” says director Remo D’Souza.
ABCD 2 is slated to go on floors in July 2014.
