Lipstick Under My Burkha, a film that won accolades at international festivals, was denied a certificate by CBFC. FCAT later cleared the movie for release. The film is not a film anymore but has become a movement. Many have come forward in the ongoing #LipstickRebellion movement to break the societal norms.
From Ratna Patak Shah, Konkana Sen Sharma and many actresses from Television industry, everyone has come out in support of the campaign. Now, Arjun Kapoor has become the first man from Bollywood to openly support ongoing movement, #LipstickRebellion. He shared a photograph with a lipstick placed at his middle finger and wrote, “Let no one tell u what to do. Here’s to all u amazing women out there! Real Men stand with strong women.”
Earlier, Ekta Kapoor, who is presenting the Prakash Jha produced film, took to Twitter and wrote, “Patriarchy isn’t restricted only to men, just like feminism isn’t only an ideology supported by women. Real Men stand with strong women. A special someone kickstarts #MenForLipstick tomorrow.”
Directed by Alankrita Shrivastav, Lipstick Under My Burkha is slated to release on July 21. Meanwhile, Arjun Kapoor is busy promoting his upcoming family entertainer, Mubarakan starring Anil Kapoor, Athiya Shetty and Ileana D’cruz. It is releasing on July 28, 2017.
